Meet Susan L. Marques

Hello I am Susan - I am a native Long Islander who grew up in Huntington, NY and currently Live on Long Island's East End. As a child I was always expressing myself through drawing, painting, and dance; having been influenced by my mother, father, and aunt’s artistic abilities.  I received a BA Degree in Fine Art.  After working for several years as a freelance artist in graphic design for Abraham & Strauss and CMP Associates, I turned my attention towards teaching, and received my Masters in Elementary Education in 1987. 

My lifelong passion has always been painting and with encouragement from family and friends I became involved in presenting my work to the public. 

Currently I study painting with Howard Rose an internationally known oil painter, and previously with Jlee Elsbree a fantastic local watercolor artisan. Both are amazing mentors whom I am blessed to know. I love to paint many different subjects mainly found in nature, especially the beaches and bays, both here at home and on my travels. The ever-changing colors and patterns found outdoors never cease to amaze and inspire me.  I hope to bring a sense of peace to the viewer as I am a great believer that art heals on all levels.
